Jon Charry Passes Qualifying Paper

Congratulations to Jon Charry for successfully defending his paper "Response to Teitel on Theoretical Equivalence". Passing the Qualifying Paper is the last hurdle in our graduate program before advancing to candidacy.

Ethics Bowl regional competition

This past weekend, UCSB's two Ethics Bowl debate teams competed at the annual regional competition hosted by UC Santa Cruz. Eighteen teams, from all over California, competed for four bids to the national competition which will be held sometime early next year. The level of competition in the qualifying round was very high this year, and, although our teams tried their best, neither team was able to qualify for the semi-finals. Our teams, UCSB 1 and UCSB 2, received 9th and 5th place, respectively. We are very proud of their hard work this season!

Congrats to Sherri Lynn Conklin (UCSB PhD, 2020)! Her co-authored paper , “Where are the Women? The Ethnic Representation of Women Authors in Philosophy Journals, by Regional Affiliation and Specialization” has been accepted for publication in The European Journal of Analytic Philosophy.
